Title: New Aberdeenshire council rules
Post by: Duncan McRae on 26/01/2008 at 16:58
I've just bought my season ticket for the Aberdeenshire council waters on the Don.There's some big changes to the rules.
Two which immediately stand out are total catch and release of salmon up to the 1st of June and a total ban on spinning below a certain water height.Don't know what height this is but apparently there are markers on all the council waters.
What do people think about this?

Duncan,

This doesn't really affect me as I use the fly for Salmon and haven't taken home a Salmon in over 10 years (I have caught some in that period :z4)

I mostly fish Kintore and there is a large core of Spinners and wormers there so it'll be interesting to hear their views - and indeed find out the water height for restriction you mentioned.

I'm all for it  I'm assuming you have the Salmon and trout ticket, but does what you have regarding rules differ in any from this:

http://www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/parks/fishing/anglingcode.asp#Conservation

or this:

http://www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/parks/fishing/SalmonPermitConditions.asp#Salmon

or indeed this:

If so - please elaborate further :z16
