Title: Lochter Report - It's Resolution Time
Post by: Howard & Stuart on 07/01/2019 at 11:38
Have you noticed that over the last week the papers have been full of “the year that’s awa”, “the year ahead – what lies in store” and “new year resolutions”. The trouble with resolutions is the feeling of guilt and failure when you break them (which is usually by mid January).

For 2019 no resolutions are being made by your writer but I am minded, encouraged by my wife, to reduce my fly tying considerably so as not to add to the boxes and boxes and boxes of flies I posses, most of whom never see the water. I am also minded to get out more and avoid daytime television and that’s plenty to burden oneself with for 2019.

Shaking off the excesses of the festive season and Hogmanay there have been plenty of successful anglers at Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum. Getting things off to a nice steady start, P. Hives and B. Hives had ten between them on green blobs (shame they weren’t using buzzers) while Bill Gibb was showing off his hunter-gatherer skills to Gibb Jnr by catching eleven on a bungee buzzer.

Getting ready for the Rabbie Burns Pairs event scheduled for Sunday 27th January, Paul Sharp had twelve and Andrew Barrowman fourteen using a mix of blobs and nymphs. Willie Riddock tempted eleven and the Blobby Boys, Doug and Billy, consistent as ever, had twenty between them on buzzers and blobs.

There are a couple of stormy days forecast before conditions settle for some good angling weather.
