Title: Lochter Report - Testing Conditions For Anglers
Post by: Howard & Stuart on 03/12/2018 at 12:54
Anglers at Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum were grateful for the hot tea, coffee and drinking chocolate provided as “cauld blew the bitter biting north”, complemented by the rain. Two ladies enjoying afternoon tea in the comfort of the conservatory restaurant looked out upon three hardy souls casting their flies upon the water and were heard to speculate “they’re probably on day release from somewhere”.

Aye and they’ll have a minder with them,”

No ladies. They were ‘enjoying’ their sport in ‘testing’ conditions. Certainly it was testing during the week but those who did venture out did okay.

The Dynamic Duo of Karen Gillies and Peter Green had twenty-five between them using their own YBT buzzers. Bill Gibb top scored with sixteen mostly using alsorts while Frank Lindsay kept two and returned eleven using cats.

With football making the headlines on Sunday it was appropriate that Peter Cowie should use the Ally McCoist fly to achieve a score of eight. There have been some fine big fish coming to the net, Graham Hartly returning one at 10lbs while Dave Purdy had a great tussle with a lovely trout which tipped the scales at 9lbs 4oz, tempted by a yellow dancer.

The colder weather will cause the fish to drop deeper so intermediate lines will be more in evidence as the month progresses.
