Title: Lochter Report - It's Competition Time At Lochter
Post by: Howard & Stuart on 24/09/2018 at 13:59
It may be the “season of mists and mellow fruitfulness” but it is also competition time at Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum.

The popular Autumn Singles will be held on Sunday 14th October. Entry fee £20 including lunch. This will be an “old school” competition with sight indicators banned for the event. There are plenty of good prizes to be won and entries are being taken now on 01651 872787.

As expected the colder weather has brought more of the big resident fish on the feed, much to the delight of anglers. Steve Prince had one of 10lbs 3oz tempted by a humungus, John McPherson had a six pounder on a cormorant as part of his bag of nine, Paul Ingram eight fish including two four pounders and one six pounder but Colin McDonald was top gun with a twelve fish on cormorants including a beautifully proportioned specimen which tipped the scales at 14lb 2oz. The good news is that all these big fish were returned to fight another day.

There were occassions during the week when fish were coming to dries and Alan Cushnie managed seven using that method. The strong winds however meant that anglers were best a bit down in the water. D. Borzacchiello mastered the conditions and had a dozen on a cats whisker and J. White eight on tadpoles.

More wind is forecast so this method using intermediate or sink tip lines will be favoured.
