Title: Lochter Report - Holiday Time for Fishers
Post by: Howard & Stuart on 10/07/2018 at 08:53
I hear that football is coming home, whether it does or not only time will tell.

What the fine weather up here is doing is encouraging folks to stay at home and enjoy what is now called a ‘staycation'.

There are certainly plenty of things to do, places to go around the North East; which has never looked better- apart from the brown lawns- at least you don’t have to mow them!

There have been plenty of staycation anglers out at Lochter Fishery in Oldmeldrum fairly enjoying themselves.

Paul Ingram had eight fish up to 4lbs on dries and buzzers while on the same day Derek Gray & Fred Hay netted seven a piece using the same flies. Neil Garden tempted eleven with his CDC’s and Fred McAlley seven with the same set up.

Small flies have been doing better than lures as the trout have become more picky. Pete (The Feet) Green used a Kate McLaren to attract eleven while Karen Gillies chipped in with eight and buzzers and cormorants worked well for Colin McDonald who had a great day ending with twelve to his name while buzzers and blobs were the choice of Simon Ruddiman who netted nine.

At the time of writing the water temperature is dropping thanks to the cooling breeze. This is forecast to continue for a few more days which will please the anglers.
