Title: Looking for a funky new reel...
Post by: James Laraway on 09/04/2018 at 16:33
Hello all,
I was trying to get my mits on one of the flashy Alpha 5+ reels - but one month later they have failed to deliver...so i have asked for a refund.

im looking for something funky suitable for holding a Barrio #6 SLX

the orvis hydros in 'citros' looks nice...

any reccomendations ?

Does the colour need to be loud or are you after something that wee bit different :?

You might try this..... http://lts-flyfishing.uk/color.html
Or maybe one of these..... http://www.einarsson.com/?cat=plus-reels
Or even.... https://www.hatchoutdoors.com/ the purple one....  :z13

Funky looks but not colour. Was playing with one the other day, rather nice. http://www.visionflyfishing.co.uk/reel_vxo.html

Reddington rise in orange if you want to burn your eyeballs https://www.fishingmegastore.com/fly-reels/redington-rise-iii-fly-reel~34258.html

Or for a true custom, try a Vossler as they have the option of having just about any of their reels custom coloured, http://www.vosseler.com/en/Fly-Reels/TRYST-Series/MagicColors.html

The Air-one in a custom colour would be pretty amazing!  http://www.vosseler.com/en/Fly-Reels/AIR-One/

Or the Tryst http://www.vosseler.com/en/Fly-Reels/TRYST-Series/Tryst-WF-5-6-Fly-Reels.html

Spare spools from any of the high quality manufacturers is usually 50% of the price of the reel Derek.
I'm guessing it will be that.

Cheers

Nice reels, not too expensive either and a bit different from what’s normally found in the shops.

Next reel I get is going to be a bright colour I think, love the red.

I also like the lime green on the Hydros SL.

No spares listed on the Vossler site for this range unfortunately. Other spools are as you say, about 50%.
