Title: single handed Spey casting
Post by: John Powell on 09/02/2018 at 16:41
i have, before now, considered a season using nowt but my split-cane rods ALL year
2018 is the year... :z16

9'-6'' Sharpes Scottie  7/8wt.  (poss too heavy for a full day)
8'-0'' Farlows Brunswick
7'-6'' Herbert Hatton

perhaps not a full double Spey cast (without some lessons) but was wondering

is it possible to do a decent roll cast using a Barrio Smallstream fly line..?   WF-6-F or .?

or do i need a dedicated line..?

thanks for any advice.....john

Yes, the Smallstream Rolls and Speys nicely.

Best wishes

Mike
thanks for a quick reply

all of the split-cane rods I own are 'blue-collar' rods -- none of your fancy 2/3/4 wt models..

I'll sort out which line weights load the rod(s) and place an order

best regards
