Title: Barrio switch for GR50 switch rod 7/8
Post by: Mikael Holtz Aronsson on 22/03/2017 at 10:39
Which one of the Barrio switch lines would you recommend for the Greys GR50 switch 7/8 rod? Is the 7/8 line a perfect match? I have been asking a couple of shops about suitable line weights for this rod and recieved answers ranging from 21 to 29 grams!

If I recall correctly the GR50 comes from a fairly fast action family of rods, so  I am confident you'll find that the Barrio 7/8 is the correct weight of  line for your rod  :z16

Yes, that would be my choice Hamish :z16

Currently sold out again I'm afraid, but on high priority at the factory and I should receive the next batch soon.

Best wishes
Mike

I use the 7/8 on my Helios 7 weight switch.

You might be getting different advice regarding lines from shops as they may be selling different styles of line.

For example, my 7 weight throws the following:
 525 Grain Rio Skagit,
480 grain Rio Scandi
Mikes 7/8 Switch which is 425 grains
7 weight Hydros Bank Shot which is 270 grains and
9 weight Rio Outbound short which is 375grains.

It all depends on the profile and length of the line and the casting style.

Took me a wee while to get my head around it, but it does make sense in the end.
