Hi all,
My family holiday this year (July) will take in Slovenia & Croatia. I've managed to persuade the non fishing members of the family that a few days in the Slovenian mountains would be great fun.
I'm therefore looking for recommendations on locations/properties that will allow me to sample the splendid fishing and the others to walk/kayak/eat/sleep etc .
All suggestions gratefully received

I traveled in slovenia & Croatia many moons ago, not long after it ceased to be Yugoslavia . We did get up the mountains to Lake Bled. The scenery was awesome.
However is was around 35 years ago when I was young and not long married, so fishing was not a priority :z4
Hope these websites are a help

Www.tilnikfarm.com should fit the bill!

Thanks for the suggestions. We contacted Tilnik and have been told the couple on the website have sold up and it is now under new ownership.
I have a request in to the fly-fishing-slovenia website, will report back what comes from there.
Will explore thinkslovenia - thank you
The other one I found is the socacowboy website - more of a guiding service but I'm hoping he'll have recommendations on accommodation also
Thanks for all suggestions so far - if anyone else has experience, please feel free to comment

Hi Ross
No experience but this could be worth a look for finding some info.

Uros is a friend of mine on FB, does some pretty neat fishing trips, from what i've seen. Could be worth contacting him for details
Cheers

An update.....
The best response I got was from one of Sandy's links. Uros provided plenty of info and following this I have booked a days guiding with him in July on the Soca.
Uros also put us onto the accommodation, and I booked the following https://sanjeobsoci.com/?lang=en
There seemed to be plenty of choice in the Bovec area. Putting 'Bovec' into TripAdvisor or booking.com brings up a wealth of options
Now to squeeze in at least one more days full fishing......

So, my trip to Slovenia finally came around. I fished on the Lapena and Soca under the guidance of Uros Kristen. Just the one day, but had a fantastic time. 9 rainbows across the two rivers. No marble trout though, so I will have to return!
I can heartily recommend Uros as a guide, he's excellent company and has intimate knowledge of the rivers. Being Alpine spate streams in this area the watercourse, and hence holding spots, can change significantly year on year following the spring snow melt. Uros certainly knows where this year's hot spots are.
Tactics are mainly heavy nymphing to visible fish. I caught all but one on this tactic. The biggest fish, approx 3.5lb did come to a dry....which was nice.
I took my (one of Sandy's) Epic 580, which coped admirably with nymph and dry and right up to a Slovenian Muddler, which is more of a heavy jig than a fly. It represents a bull head and is fished as a streamer.
All in all a fantastic time and one I can heartily recommend if you have the opportunity
