Title: Lochter Report - Cauld Blew The Bitter Biting North
Post by: Howard & Stuart on 07/11/2016 at 11:16
The last few days have been fit for neither mice nor men as winter’s cauld hand fairly gripped this North East corner.

Fair-weather fishers stayed at home and it was only the hardiest of anglers who layered up and cast their flies upon the water at Lochter Fishery, Oldmeldrum.

Those that did were rewarded for their efforts. Graham Duthie got the ball rolling at the start of the week with fifteen using an interesting combination of Black Blobs and WSW’s. While Dave Murray from Garlogie decided the fish were down deep and used a Tungsten Minkie to tempt six. Okay Dokey’s were the choice of G. Reid and eight nice fish agreed while G. Moir stuck with his favourite Damsel and bagged six. Bill Gibb again scored top this time using Bungee Buzzers to catch and release twenty four and angling buddy Neil Simmers grassed ten using the same set up.

This cold snap will certainly gee up the fish as they try to put a bit of condition on before Winter sets in and food gets scarce. Anglers who venture out suitably clad for the conditions should do okay.
