It is seldom that a particular spell of weather suits everybody. Most spells are either too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry, too bright, too dull or too something else. This recent spell of settled Indian Summer appears to be an exception. With folks from all walks of life able to enjoy this extension to summer.
Anglers at Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum have been out in force revelling in the fine conditions. Bill Gibb had a great day Troot’ aboot with thirteen to his name on PTN’s and Buzzers. Bob Sim from Tarves used cormorants and Buzzers to account for eight. Paul Keir had a super day catching and releasing sixteen on a mix of Black Fritz and Hares Ears while Liam Stephen used his tiny stalking bugs to tempt ten.
The milder conditions have kept Buzzers on the trout’s menu and were the choice for Fred McAuley with nine, Stewart Raeburn - eight, Paul Mitchell - six and Brian Ross nine. In a mini competition using WSW’s, young Chris Wood came out on top with eight beating the fly’s inventor Walter Senior into second with five, with dad Davy in third with three. Hopefully the weather will stay here and the Fishing likewise.
