Lately I've been very curious about these short Skagit lines for (mostly, I believe) single handed Spey casting.
Twas the OPST Commando that lit my curiosity. I thought I'd watched all the basic Spey casting vids on the web, then that popped up.
Unfortunately, the setup - running line, head, and tips - is a tad expensive as an experiment.
Fortunately I have one of Mr Barrios Switch lines which I don't use.
So, in the interest of being creative I took a good 2 feet off the front and welded in a loop.
Tried it today in a millpool, loaded onto my Epic 686 "Rusty", with a sinking polyleader.
Well ... it was bloody marvellous. I was rolling and snapping Ts like buggery 😃
Experiment was a big success.
