The past week has seen overnight temperatures drop dramatically in relation to daytime temperatures and this has resulted in a drop in water temperatures overall. The fishing has shown signs of improvement over the past week although still difficult with the fish reluctant to feed aggressively and in fact reluctant to feed. Anglers using dry fly presentations, buzzers, spiders and diawl bach have enjoyed some success in the upper levels of the water column whilst lures, fished quickly, have seen some measure of success. The best recorded catches this week fell to; A Murray, Gardenstown, 18 fish, (yellow nomad, white fritz, black fritz), A Ross, Fraserburgh, 14 fish, (dry fly, buzzers), P Cowie, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (diawl bach, buzzers), J Dewar, 7 fish, Fraserburgh, (diawl bach, buzzers), A Gibson, Gardenstown, 6 fish, (various lures), D Mackay, Kintore, 6 fish, (black buzzer), G Ellington, Ellon, 5 fish, (buzzers).
The forecast for the coming week is mixed with a suggestion of more rainfall. However it is important to watch water temperatures and hope to see conditions which will reactivate the feeding patterns.
