Title: Lochter Report - We're Having a Heat Wave!
Post by: Howard & Stuart on 19/07/2016 at 10:47

According to the weather forecasters it is due to be almost tropical this week. The air will be heavy with the scent of sausages as BBQ’s are stoke up and pairs of unflattering shorts will be unearthed and donned revealing pasty white legs.

For anglers, the heatwave (if it happens) will be a mixed, mixed blessing. It can mean a bit of delayering and encourage big hatches of flies to bring the trout to the surface looking to grab a well presented dry.

The downside is that if the heatwave persists, the water warms and the trout get lethargic and more difficult to tempt.

During the past judging by the results, there were plenty of tempting offerings cast in the way of the trout.

Bill Johnstone from Stonehaven used buzzers, dial backs to tempt nine while CDC’s and bushy’s worked for Paul Ingram who had eight.

Cormorants and buzzers were the choice of Scott Bertram and thirteen fish agreed.

Pink cormorants brought eight to Ian Ross’s net and a gently returned damsel tempted some nice fish, including two over 5lb for Mike Frost.

At the time of writing, there are dozens of trout head and tailing on all lochs and providing tempting targets for anglers.
