Title: Lochter Report - Plenty of Muckle Troot at Lochter
Post by: Howard & Stuart on 05/07/2016 at 09:19

Catching a double figure trout is often a bit of a landmark in an anglers career. Some go through their entire angling life without experiencing that magic moment.

For those who fancy the experience then the Muckle Troot loch at Lochter Fishery in Oldmeldrum is the place to head for.

On Friday, as part of the stocking programme, five 20b plus and one 25lb plus fish were put in to join ‘Big Jock’ another 25b fish which was stocked two months ago and has been caught and released only once since.

Several anglers have been broken by him and anglers trying their luck have been advised to use substantial leader material to avoid such a fate.

During the past week, Liam Stephen using his minuscule size 18 and 20 stalking bugs had an amazing forty fish using this specialist technique.

Using more traditional methods Bill Thom netted ten on CDC’s and dries, S. Murdoch had 10 on jelly fritz and buzzers, B. Ross twelve on black buzzers and J. Walker ten nice fish, alb average on a mini cat.

The forecast is for decent weather for this week with occasional showers so fishing should continue to be good with the evening rise well worth a cast.

It's good to catch Browns now and then even if it's not on running water......  :z7
