Title: Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 15/5/16
Post by: The Aul Troot on 15/05/2016 at 14:25
The first three days of the past week saw unseasonably high temperatures with 12 hours of bright sunshine which unsettled the fish and encouraged them to feed deeper whilst the second half of the week has seen temperatures plummet below seasonal averages and accompanied by a wind from a North/North Easterly direction. However, the last three days have seen the fish feeding at higher levels and surface activity has returned. Overall the weeks fishing has been reasonably productive with the best catches falling to; A Murray, Gardenstown, 59 fish over several visits, (white nomad, olive fritz), A Cowie, Fraserburgh, 36 fish, (pink blob, bloodworm), K Wright, Aberdeen, 15 fish, (bloodworm), G Linklater, Peterhead, 10 fish, (red, black buzzer), J West, Fraserburgh, 9 fish, (black fritz, diawl bach), S Edwards, Turriff, 8 fish, (dry fly, bloodworm), N Thomson, Turriff, 7 fish, (buzzers), F West, Fraserburgh, 6 fish, (pink blob, diawl bach).
The forecast for the coming week suggests a rise in temperature and reduction in wind speeds hopefully leading to more settled conditions for improved fishing. Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is open seven days from 8am til 9pm during May with closing times being adapted as light permits. Visitors are always welcome and booking is not necessary. Boats (where required) rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery. For up to date conditions and information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
