The past week has seen, at last, a rise in temperatures but this has been tempered by a persistent Northerly or Easterly wind which at times made fishing uncomfortable. Surprisingly, the fish have maintained a presence in the top 2ft of the water column and have actively taken a variety of presentations at this level. Even lures proved successful when retrieved quickly on a floating line to maintain a higher level in the water column. The best recorded catches this week fell to; A Murray, Gardenstown, 57 fish over several visits, (white nomad, white fritz), A Cowie, Fraserburgh, 29 fish, (blobs, buzzers), M Smith, Huntly, 26 fish, (bloodworm, cat's whiskers), G Linklater, Peterhead, 25 fish, (olive dabbler), A Duthie, Peterhead, 10 fish, (pheasant tail nymph, buzzers), C Watson, New Deer, 9 fish, (buzzers), C McLean, Portlethen, 9 fish, (nymphs), D Low, Aberdeen, 8 fish, (divick), D Apedaile, Fraserburgh, 8 fish, (diawl bach), S Rankin, Peterhead, 7 fish, (dries, yellow fritz), N Thomson, Turriff, 7 fish, (buzzers).
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is open seven days from 8am til 9pm and booking is not necessary. Visitors are always welcome. Boats (where required) rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery.
