The weather during the past seven days has seen a drop in temperature with cold northeasterly and northwesterly winds compared to the previous two weeks. The feeding pattern for the fish has also altered with lures once again managing to entice catches although the buzzer has again been the dominant end tackle. Some fish have also succumbed to a dry fly although this has proved spasmodic with difficulty in trying to gain a meaningful catch. The best recorded catches this week fell to; A Murray, Gardenstown, 22 fish, (white nomad, black fritz), N Thomson, Turriff, 21 fish, (buzzers), P Cowie, Fraserburgh, 19 fish, (black buzzers), J Dewar, Fraserburgh, 15 fish, (black buzzers), C Watson, New Deer, 14 fish, (green buzzers), S Paterson, Aberdeen, 9 fish, (pink bunny leech), D Law, Aberdeen, 8 fish, (various dry flies), A Cowie, Fraserburgh, 7 fish, (nymphs), J Clayton, King Edward, 7 fish, (olive nymph), K Fraser, Greeness, 6 fish, (peacock spider).
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is open seven days from 8am til 8 pm although opening times will be extended to accommodate evening fishing when the temperature rises enough for fly catches. Visitors and novices are always welcome and boats (where required) rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery. Booking is not necessary.
