Glen of rothes trout and coarse fishery
When the weather is up and down,it follows fishing will be the same and they wont feed as prolific as in settled conditions. To take 3 or 4 fish in a session is a good day in unsettled weather. Here is where knowledge and patience come in and depth, lines to use, colour of fly, size of fly is important if you want to catch.Lures may work one day and the next its buzzers.Over this week it has been up and down but still fish were caught and not many blank days,David Cameron had a good fish of 4lbs 9ozs,Andrew More had 10 fish,Stuart Hayden had 14 fish on an olive buzzer with a 4lb 3ozs fish and he returned a fish of around 10lbs and Jimmy Rhind had a 4lb 7oz.Overall most averaged 3 and 4 fish.
The Club champion was decided at the final competition of the year where it was close and the new Club champion was Neill smith.Runner up was Andrew more and the heaviest fish over the year went to Chris Johnston.March begins the new year for next years club champion. The AGM was held and minutes are at the fishery for members to view. There is alot going on for the club this year and applications for membership can be collected at the fishery for anyone who is interested.
Coarse loch
A slow week with not much fishing done with conditions being so up and down.
Millbuies trout fishery
After the frosts and ice the fishery opened and got off to a great start for the season.Anglers enjoyed some great sport with fish having been rested for a while they were keen to take a fly.The Browns have come on well packing weight on with the rich feeding Millbuies offers and most complimented the condition and beauty of the browns caught.John Shearson had a great day with 5o fish ,most browns,Stuart McGhie and Kevin Buchanan had 27 between them,Joe Campbell had 43 with a beauty at 6lbs,Gary Gormley and boat partner had 12 fish between them. The weather wasnt the best on some days but the fishing bodes well for the coming season with alot of bookings for boats.
