I had an old Garrison cane rod probably pre war, but I was gillying last year for a woman who had a Carmichael rod, Nicely made but as it was an 8wt I found it heavy, evidently she met Hoagie when she was in New York, and he offered to make a rod for her I only knew of the old singer Carmichael (jungle Book) , easgach 1

Seriously? Have you still got it? He only made about 1000 rods in his lifetime and they sell for upwards of $10k especially if it's a shorter one.
Nice anecdote about the other rod , it would be nice to have seen one :z16

Sorry Sandy , I got shot of it , It was a 3 piece with a spare top with a cane wrapped handle and it was in a cane tube /bank stick, but it was in crap order twisted and bent with rusty rings, it's so long back ,(70's) that I cant remember what I  swapped it for, the old guy I got it from fished loch Leven, and gave me some 4 fly loch leven casts to gut, with the rod I swapped him a pair of hammer shotgun back action locks, from a dismantled shotgun, at the time I didn't know any thing about Garrison and I didn't consider this was worth restoring, it was a curio ,I remember it was a Brooklyn address, later I found out about Garrison tapers, by the way Sandy I have had some good days fishing the rod I made from that  TFO Lefty Kreh blank I got from you, I actually managed to get A proper TFO rod
tube for it,I like it better than My Orvis rod, hope you have a good 2015 season easgach 1

Aye hindsight is a wonderful thing :X1

Those TFO blanks are underrated, I've two TFO switch blanks here as well, which should make up into nice really light double handers, when I can be bothered :X2
Too busy paying Homage to Mr Payne :wink

Anyway all the best to you too for 2015
