Title: Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 11/1/15
Post by: The Aul Troot on 12/01/2015 at 00:26
Welcome to 2015! The period covered by this report was very difficult with the water iced over between Christmas and New Year, and 2015 experiencing some of the windiest conditions seen all year. The combination of ice, wind and low temperatures made conditions very difficult for the anglers who were prepared to brave it. However, fortunately the water has remained ice free since 1st January and although the forecasts remain mixed, we hope the water will remain fishable.
During the past two weeks several good catches were recorded including:
A Murray, Gardenstown, 34 fish, (black/red and black/green fritz), S Sim, Ellon, 16 fish, (bloodworm, green/black fritz), L Adam, Aberdeen, 14 fish, (cormorant), J Abel, Fraserburgh, 11 fish, (Kate McLaren, blob, cat's whisker), N Thomson, Turriff, 9 fish, (yellow dancer), S Zacha, Australia, 8 fish, (black/green lure), J Nairn, Pennan, 8 fish, (orange blob), A Birnie, Ellon, 8 fish, (pink bunny leech).
The forecast for the coming weeks suggest continuing windy conditions accompanied by sleet, snow and rain but with intermittent periods of settled weather and sunshine. Temperatures are predicted to remain on the low side of normal.
Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8am til light permits. Booking is not necessary and visitors and novices are welcome. Boats (where required) rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery.
