Title: Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 1/11/14
Post by: The Aul Troot on 02/11/2014 at 16:04
The past week has generally seen good fishing conditions but the variable temperature seems to have upset the fish feeding habits and the movement up and down the water column was quite dramatic with some anglers using intermediate lines with a quick retrieve and 3/5ft enjoying success whilst others were successful with a floating line and a slow retrieved lure touching bottom or just above. Unfortunately the dry fly seems to have had it's season although S Rankin from Peterhead enjoyed good fishing from a sunken green hopper.
The best recorded catches this week fell to; P Keir, Fyvie, (2 visits), 48 fish, (black fritz, olive fritz), C Field, Fraserburgh, 12 fish, (Mini WSW),  I Burnett, Fraserburgh, 10 fish, (cat's whisker), S Thompson, Cheshire, 10 fish, (buzzers), M Stewart, Methlick, 10 fish, (olive lure, montana), S Rankin, Peterhead, 7 fish, (green hopper).
The weather for the coming week suggests a continuation of the same but with a drop from mid week to more seasonable temperatures which should allow the fish to settle into a ore routine feeding pattern. Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8am til 4.30pm or as light permits. Booking is not necessary and novices and visitors are welcome. Boats (where required) rods and tackle are available for hire from the fishery. For up to date information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
