Title: Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 25/10/14
Post by: The Aul Troot on 26/10/2014 at 16:30
We have had to endure a week of high winds which has led to several days being virtually unfishable predominantly at the beginning of the week when Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday suffered gale force conditions and although the fish remained active, casting to them proved very difficult. Thursday and Friday saw a welcome lull in conditions with a return to wind on Saturday which has continued through to today (Sunday). Whilst anglers were thin on the ground, the fish also proved difficult being driven deep by the windy conditions and at variable times rising through the water column as light conditions varied.
The best recorded catches this week fell to; A Murray, Gardenstown, 43 fish, (black/olive lures, cat's whisker), B Furey, Peterhead, 10 fish, (pink WSW), P Wilson, Aberdeen, 7 fish, (olive fritz, olive damsel), N Thomson, Turriff, 6 fish, (nomad, buzzers), G Ellington, Ellon, 5 fish, (buzzers).
The weather conditions for the coming week seem set to continue in the same vein with blustery winds although the temperatures should be above or at seasonal levels. In these conditions successful anglers need to be prepared to change end tackle and fishing methods to follow the fish through the water column.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8am til 5pm although closing times will be adjusted according to light conditions.
Visitors and novices are always welcome and boats (where required), rods and tackle are available for hire at the fishery. Booking is not necessary. For up to date information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
