Title: Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 6/9/14
Post by: The Aul Troot on 07/09/2014 at 10:55
For the past two weeks we have prayed for rain water and accompanying feed flowing through the water. Some respite would now be welcome to allow the fish to settle down into a consistent feeding habit as at present they are responding to dry flies and active immediately sub surface or, on the other hand, taking lures fished deeper. The middle reaches of the water where buzzers, wet flies and nymphs are the preferred end tackle has been stiffer to fish. However despite these conditions good catches were recorded amongst the best of which were; P Keir, Fyvie, 28 fish, (dries, various lures), P Cowie, Fraserburgh, 24 fish, (hopper, spiders), A Murray, Gardenstown, 18 fish, (various coloured fritz), J Dewar, Fraserburgh, 15 fish, (hopper), P Wilson, Aberdeen, 15 fish, )blob), J Clayton, King Edward, 10 fish, (black buzzer), A Cowie, Fraserburgh, 9 fish, (CDC, diawl bach), S Edwards, Turriff, 9 fish, (various dry flies), J West, Fraserburgh, 8 fish, (blob).
With I Burnett, Fraserburgh, C Watson, New Deer, B Whyte, Fraserburgh and C Stephen, Fraserburgh all accounting for 7 fish each and using lures, predominantly s yellow fritz.
The forecast for the coming week remains settled and hopefully we will enjoy another good spell of fishing.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8am and, for another week, closing times will remain at 8pm.
