Title: Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 16/8/14
Post by: The Aul Troot on 17/08/2014 at 13:36
Our prayers over the past few weeks for some substantial rainfall were answered in excess on Sunday/Monday resulting in high water levels with some flooding and, on receding, left us with seriously coloured water during the period up to Wednesday. During this four day spell fishing was difficult but amongst the anglers who turned up, some fish were still landed. After Thursday the water began to clear and the three days up to last night (Saturday) have proved very fruitful with good catches being recorded on both lures and dry flies with some activity also in the middle depths of the water.
The best recorded catches during this short period fell to; J Abel, Fraserburgh, 39 fish, (blobs, cat's whiskers), A Murray, Gardenstown, 23 fish, (black nomad, olive fritz), B Furey, Peterhead, 11 fish, (blob, pink cat's whiskers), A Milne, Peterhead, 10 fish, (sedge, dry flies), K Wright, Newburgh, 8 fish, (bloodworm, CDC), J Zacha, Inverallochy, 8 fish, (dry flies).
The forecast for the coming week is continuing mixed with showers and stiff winds but more importantly a general fall of 4-5 degrees in temperature. This should encourage the fish to become more active and we look forward to good returns.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8:00am. Closing times will be dictated by light conditions but should remain between 8:30 - 9:00pm for another week.
Visitors and novices are always welcome and booking is not necessary. Boats (where required) rods and tackle are available for hire at the fishery. For further information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
