Hi,
Where would I get one of these kits? Are they an "off the shelf" item
All the best

One source would be via Chapmans here in the UK. http://www.chapmanblanks.co.uk/
Although they have cut back a lot on what they offer, they do make a reasonable blank at a reasonable price. Some custom builders use Chapmans to make there blanks and you can get custom made ones yourself if you want or match famous tapers and actions.
Another is Norman Agutters http://www.norman-agutters.com/blanks.htm
I have seen there copies of cane carp rods and they are really rather nice.
You can also go to the other end of the price range and get US blanks at $700+

Thank you guys
TROUTMADDAVE, I bought the kit at the angler's roost.

I believe you wouldn't find cheaper than this :z16 I think that they are great for a first experience!

Thanks for the quick answers. Looking for a winter project. There's only so long you can stand starring at your favourite flies smoking a fag, before folks start muttering "is he all right, he's been like that for hours!!"
Cheers

It is strange how things work out, went to a different tackle shop this morning, an hours drive from my house. Bought a new reel for my 10' #3/4 , a sage 1850 for really cheep, and the guy had a really old 7' split cane rod for sale. Ended up getting it for €30. Now that is a bargain!! I'll post a pic of it when I sus out how to!!
Cheers

I've no idea who the maker is, I'd say it's very old and it fishes great.
Tried it earlier with a #3wf, you have to work hard to cast, so I think it needs a heavier line.
