That was Bens criticism of my butt (fighting!). However, when I built the rod the butt on my Czech Nymph 10 footer,  it was designed to sit just at my wrist and to act as a weight to bring the centre of balance into a position to keep the tip of the rod up with no effort required. So, big butts are good in the right circumstance.
