Title: Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 31/5/14
Post by: The Aul Troot on 01/06/2014 at 14:09
The past week has seen some more settled weather conditions although the bright sunshine pushed the fish deeper apart from spells in the early morning and the evenings when the fish appeared to patrol the upper regions of the water. Buzzers and lures were the preferred tackle with the dry fly still remaining sporadic with little activity although surface hatches are becoming more obvious and in the right conditions may yet prove productive.
The best catches this week fell to A Murray, Gardenstown who netted 34 fish on several visits including 18 on Saturday (yesterday). Other catches included; R Deeming, Peterhead, 16 fish, (lures, cat's whisker), N Thomson, Turriff, 14 fish, (buzzers), J Rennie, Buckie, 12 fish, (damsel nymphs), J West, Fraserburgh, 12 fish, (buzzers, lures), W Deeming, Peterhead, 12 fish, (lures, blackfly), P Cowie, Fraserburgh, 8 fish, (spider), R Gervais, New Deer, 8 fish, (buzzers).
The forecast for the coming week suggests weather will continue as more of the same but interspersed with periods of light rain. Any rainfall will be welcome to ensure fresh water and the dispersal of the existing algae.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8:00am til 10:00pm (weather permitting) during June. The last time for starting fishing in the evening is 7:00pm.
Visitors and novices are welcome and booking is not necessary with boats (where required) rods and tackle available for hire at the fishery.
