Just got back from a week in Key West where the point of the exercise was to catch my first Tarpon. Two hours into my first day and voila! Not on the fly unfortunately as it was blowing a hooly all week but I was still chuffed. 40 minutes to get him to the boat and some spectacular jumps during the fight. Sarah hooked a similar fish but lost it at the boat...not happy.
Fished two other days on the flats and hardly saw a thing...the locals say the windy weather over the last few months has really messed up the fishing. Saw two Permit but couldn't get decent cast at them.
Permit: Check
Tarpon: Check
Next time = Bonefish!
