Title: Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 8/3/14
Post by: The Aul Troot on 09/03/2014 at 12:29
Welcome to the first week of March which arrived and maintained seasonable temperatures but which felt much colder due to the persistence of the wind. Rainfall was not excessive and the water is now running clear although the wind velocity and direction appears to influence the fish activity with most anglers contacting their quarry at depth and on a slow retrieve. Lures dominated the catching with the WSW and cat's whisker being the best for the week.
The following catches were recorded; A Murray, Gardenstown, 10 fish, (budgie), A Gibson, Gardenstown, 9 fish, (WSW), M Stewart, Methlick, 7 fish, (cat's whisker), W Campbell, Aberdeen, 7 fish, (cat's whisker), D Wood, Aberdeen, 6 fish, (blob).
Next week has been forecast for rising daytime temperatures although accompanied by colder or even frosty nights. The wind velocity is due to drop and come from a more favourable south or south westerly direction.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8:00am til 5:00pm. Closing times from the end of March will be adjusted to suit light conditions.
Visitors and novices are always welcome and booking is not necessary. Boats (where required) rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery.
