Title: Anglers Undeterred by Cold.
Post by: Howard & Stuart on 18/11/2013 at 16:41
The forecasters are predicting an Arctic blast this week but the past week has not been exactly balmy. In fact at Lochter Fishery Oldmeldrum there has been a thin layer of ice on some of the sheltered corners of the lochs on several mornings. Fortunately it was easily broken up and did not last. Undeterred by the nip in the air anglers have been out in good numbers and have been scoring steadily mainly using lures although towards the middle of the day when things warmed up slightly, buzzers and nymphs did work well.
Top scorer was D Mair from Aberdeen who had an exceptional day using a variety of blobs and lures to bring no fewer than twenty two fish to the net. Also getting into double figures was Steve Corsar who used a selection of mini lures to attract twelve .WSW`s worked well for G Abel who had nine and the flies inventor Walter Senior who had ten.
Buzzers were the choice of Albert Trail and they proved a sound choice with eight nice trout agreeing.
Fish of the week was a sparkling specimen of 8lbs caught by Jock Ewing on a difik and there were many fish in the 4lb/5lb class which were caught and released.
If the weather turns as predicted anglers will have to wrap up but the trout don`t mind the cold at all in fact they thrive in it.
