Title: Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 8/11/13
Post by: The Aul Troot on 10/11/2013 at 10:50
After last weekends downpour, as predicted, it took a few days for the water levels to return and the colour to clear again but from Wednesday the water returned to its normal levels and good fishing was enjoyed in the latter half of the week with some good catches being recorded.
This week has eventually seen the demise of the dry fly and although some surface activity can still be seen, the feeding has been at lower levels and apart from N Thomson (buzzers) all other fish have fallen to lures fished on intermediate lines. J West, Fraserburgh included a nice 8lb specimen among his 21 fish tally. The best recorded catches this week fell to; J West, Fraserburgh, 21 fish, (WSW), A Murray, Gardenstown, 20 fish, (cat's whisker), N Thomson, Turriff, 10 fish, (buzzers), B Cresswell, Macduff, 8 fish, (white nomad), L Davidson, Macduff, 8 fish, (black nomad).
The average water and air temperatures continue to fall although short brighter, warmer periods were enjoyed. The forecast for the coming week is very similar and hopefully the water will continue to yield good catches.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8:00am til 4:00pm. Booking is not necessary and visitors and novices are welcome. Boats (where required), rods and tackle is available for hire at the fishery. For up to date information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
