Glen of Rothes trout and coarse fshery

Stable conditions gave some consistant fishing for anglers later on in the week once the winds had gone, but even in the wind fishing was good and fish were active enough to give some good returns of 8 and 9 fish.It was mostly zonkers and lime and black fritz for the first half of the week and then it quickly turned toward traditionals of Kates,Black spiders, snatchers and nymphs which did the business.Even dries worked as fish closed into the surface and could be found feeding very close in on the numerous water boatman insect.Takes were very tentitive and patience was required not to strike to early. Some examples of catches this week were,Jim Eddie 9,Tom Webster had 6 and 2 6lb fish,Barry Ward had an 8lb 8ozs fish,Geirge Stewart snr had 9 fish with a nice 2lb 8ozs Blue and George Stewart jnr followed up with a 9 and a fish of 9lbs,Ian Morrison had 9,Gordon Grant also 9,Aidrian Nicholson 7,John Graham 9,Bob Mann had 8, with his best at 5lbs,Gary Gormley had 10,Paul Kier 9 with a brook trout returned also,Kev Middlemiss had 11 and a 6lb 12ozs fish his best,Colin Taylor had a nice fish of 5lb 15ozs, on average anglers managed between 3 and 4 fish for their sessions.

Coarse loch.

Decent catches continued on pellet for anglers with early part of the week producing mostly roach, bream and gudgeon for Alan Siener,Keith Seiner,Kieron Shaw,Dave Latty started the carp going along with roach and bream,Jihn Allsopp had a great day with Carp upto 6lb 4ozs,plenty of bream, ide and gudgeon on the pole.Paul Richardson had Roach, gudgeon and bream and managed a carp also again on the pole.

With the lochs closing at the end of October and depending on conditions anglers enjoyed some good sport this week with plenty of fish coming to the boats.Ronnie Milne had 11 fish on buzzers,Chic Thompson had 7 again on buzzers his best at 3lb 4ozs,John Shearson had 7 best at 3lbs,Stephen McConnachie had 6 best a 3lb 8ozs,Forbes Jaffery had 2,Chris Stuart had 12,Mark Kozek had 2.Most of the fish can be found close to the top and dries and small black traditionals have worked well.Under the tree lines fish are actively feeding on insect falling onto the water.Water at the moment is down about a foot and clear and with a spalsh of rain will always help fishing.

if you do make it to the loch before October ends, watch out for garden gnomes moonlighting as kelt fishermen.

fished the loch today; very impressed with the setup, good boats, lovely setting, and lots of surface action to ease the pain of another trout season ending

Glen of rothes trout and coarse fishery Week ending 14th Oct 13

Much of the fishing this week was dictated by conditions as it changed from autumn to winter. The better fishing did come in the second half of the week as things settled after strong winds deterred many from venturing forth.A couple of quiet days certainly made the difference as anglers hooked into some cracking fish and fish were keen to take.White and orange began to make an appearance, taking over from recent weeks where black had dominated. They are now feeding hard as the nip in the air triggers time to stock up for the winter months ahead.Fraser kellman had a nice 8 lb fish and a 12lber,Willie Petrie had a 4lb fish,Michael Clark had a beauty of a Blue at 6lbs,Jim Eddie weighed in an 8lb 6ozs fish,Archie Miller a 4lber,Shane Fraser a 4lb 2ozs,Colin Gault returned a fish of around 5lb,Dave Anderson And Richard Krawcyck both returned Tiger trout of 3lbs each,Barry ward had a good day with 19 fish best at 10lb 8ozs and 6lbs with 2 browns returned,Kev Middlemiss had 16 with his best at 6lb,Chris Johnstone had a beauty of 9lb 10ozs among his 8 fish,Neil Smith finished his day with 18 fish ,best at 7lb 1ozs another just over 4lbs,Willie McRobbie had 13 best at 6lb 5 ozs and George Flett landed fish of 7lb 13ozs and 7lb 4ozs to end a great day. Both Browns which all get returned and Blues featured well this week for quite a few anglers.

A quiet week for the lochs which closed on the 28th October 13 for the season and will reopen in March 2014 and those who did fish had good sport.Iain Cameron had 7 fish all off the top, boat partner Rob Brownfield also had 7 again off the top using buzzers,Gary Gormley had 6 fish and Kev Middlemiss had 5 fish. They all had quite a few fish on and off but fish did give a good scrap  for everyone.

I think Kev must have been half asleep when he read the catch returns :)

I had 6, a couple on a foam Daddy Longlegs (for a bit of fun), with one taking within 6 feet of the boat as I dabbled it across its head :), I had a couple on a short dresset Black and Peacock Spider fished under a Klinck, and a couple on a weird black nymph thing with JC eyes that I bought in GAC.

Iain had most of his on smoked sausage, potatoes and muppets :)

All in all a good wee day out with great company, even if he did steal the best seat in the boat :)

Must have been thinking slim :X2

One out Keltic Rob only had 6 to the boat and the best seat in the boat is no excuse :z4

Glad you both had a good day out on the loch, you certainly were lucky with the weather.

:z18 Just wait till next year :z16
