Title: Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 6/4/13
Post by: The Aul Troot on 07/04/2013 at 14:58
Today, Sunday the 7th April, I arrived at the fishery having driven through 2 inches of lying snow with -1 air temperature. This says it all about our spring season where we have endured the coldest, consistent spell of weather with air temperature never exceeding 4-5 degrees and water temperature just above icing levels. Whilst icing has not been a major problem, the cold temperatures have certainly affected the fishing. Despite these conditions, it is surprising to note that the best catches this week were all recorded to dries and Buzzers with the fish obviously feeding and being active near or on the water surface.
The best recorded catches fell to:
C Fraser, Turriff, 23 fish, (Buzzers), P Sharp, Westhill, 11 fish, (Dry/Buzzers), N Bruce, Buckie, 8 fish, (Klinkhammer), N Thomson, Turriff, 8 fish, (Buzzers), D Stewart, Aberdeen, 7 fish, (Buzzers).
The Troutmaster fish off competition is taking place on 20th April and all contestants are reminded to be at the fishery at 10:00am for a 10:30 start.
Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery is a Troutmaster water and is open from 8:00am seven days with closing times at present being 5:00pm, but will be adjusted as conditions improve.
Boats (where required), rods and tackle are available for hire at the fishery and visitors are welcome. For up to date information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
