Title: Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 16/2/13
Post by: The Aul Troot on 17/02/2013 at 13:48
How things change with Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and particularly Wednesday completely written off for weather conditions and then for Thursday, Friday and Saturday to produce the conditions that were so condusive to good fishing. Needless to say that the weather, whilst encouraging the fish, did nothing for the anglers until the weekend when a good turnout enjoyed some pleasant overhead conditions coupled to good sport.
The best recorded catches in numbers this week fell to:
A Murray, Gardenstown, 20 fish, (White Fritz), G Burton, Gardenstown, 16 fish, (Bloodworm), K Fraser, Greeness, 14 fish, (Black Cat), N Thomson, Turriff, 14 fish, (Cat's Whiskers and Cormorant), J Mackay, Macduff, 7 fish, (Green Blob).
Notable amongst the catches were the number of the larger specimens caught with K Fraser including a 14lb and 16lb fish amongst his tally with N Thomson landing a 12.5lb fish and G Burton including a 10lb plus specimen. Several other anglers recorded fish in the 7-9lb range.
Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open 7 days from 8:00am til 5:00pm during February. Opening hours will be constantly reviewed as the days lengthen. Boats (where required), rods and tackle are available for hire and visitors and learners are welcome. Booking is not necessary.
