Title: Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 05/01/13
Post by: The Aul Troot on 06/01/2013 at 21:52
The first week of the new year and the fishing could not have been better with anglers enjoying good catches both in numbers and in size with a warm January sun on their backs during periods of the day. The water levels have remained constant with the water clarity good and the air temperatures have been higher than could be seasonally expected.
The successful lures this week read like an A-Z of fly fishing with catches being recorded on Spiders, Buzzers and Nymphs and every imaginable colour and combination of lures.
Some of the larger fish also made an appearance with M Stewart from Mintlaw landing an 8lb and J Nicol, Turriff and Z Hall, Macduff landing a 7lb and 6lb specimen.
The main recorded catches this week were:
A Murray, Gardenstown, (over several visits), 43 fish, Cat's Whisker, Green/Black Fritz, C Fraser, Turriff (over several visits), 19 fish, Orange Fritz/Pink Dancer, K Simpson, Peterhead, 18 fish, Cat's Whisker, A Gibson, Gardenstown, 17 fish, Orange Fritz, K Reid, Gardenstown, 12 fish, WSW, N Thomson, Turriff, 9 fish, Purple WSW/Buzzers, M Stewart, Mintlaw, 6 fish, Yellow Montana, B Gray, Largue, 6 fish, Buzzers.
Outstanding amongst the juniors was A Caithness from Kirkaldy who, on several visits, landed 31 fish on Cat's Whiskers and Buzzers. Good going for a 12 year old.
