Hi Everyone,
I started fly fishing this year, mainly on river Don, didn't catch a lot of fish, but really enjoy it. I have a fly fishing rod is 9'6, 6/7 weight, and now looking for another better one. 7 weight maybe, so I can use it for salmon, but trout is the main target. Could anyone advice the above rod, is it worth to buy? or anything else I should look at. By the way, I go out a lot, probably every week. Cheers. :z14

Can't remember now, but will let you know later. it's a gift from a friend. He told me it's a cheap rod for his partner. I believe it's not as good as the rod from Lochter, I had a day fishing there in June. Cheers.

Both the Orvis Western 2 & 3 have been replaced. I beleive you can still but the 3 in some outlets. I have 3 different Western 3 and the 10ft 5 weight is my go to rod for boat and float tube trot fishing.

Others may disagree but IMO if you are mainly targetting Brown Trout a 7 wt is a tad heavy ? I only fish for BT and use a 4 wt and have handled muscular Sea Trout and have no doubt it will take a Salmon (within reason).
Ben_D on here will advise on Orvis Rods - I use an Access and a Helios and both are fantastic. At a lower price point the Greys Streamflex XF2 take some beating and are probably the best value for money river trout rod out there (IMO). Maybe a #5 9ft Streamflex ( I seem to prefer 10' #4 's myself) ?

Edit: I am not suggesting Mark targets Salmon with a #4 wt Rod merely it will handle one if accidentaly hooked !
