Title: Haddo Trout Fishery ( to September 3rd )
Post by: Mike Barrio on 04/09/2012 at 13:50
Hi folks

Another great week, with pretty much all the trout taken in the top 6 inches of water. DHE, CDC Emergers, CDC Black Buzzers, Black Klinks, Daddy, Claret Hoppers, Bibio Hoppers, Snatchers, Black Pennell, PTN and Kate McLaren featuring in the catch returns :wink

Kevin Mackenzie had a great session tempting 24 Brownies up to 1.75 lb, Josh O'Driscoll had 17 up to 4 lb, Iain Cameron 16 up to 2 lb, Ewan Lindsay 10 up to 2.5 lb, Jamie Davidson 9 up to 2 lb and Steven Kidd netted 8 fish up to 2 lb.

Best wishes
Mike

thanks for the coffee and chat on Sunday Mike. Had a cracking day on the water.

Claret hoppers and snatchers worked for me on the day. Pre-lunch, the brownies seemed to be keen on a more static presentation - had a take first cast while the fly was dumped over the side as I wiggled some line out of the rod tip.

Post-lunch, casting to a rising fish and stripping the flies seemed the preferred option. I still had Hamish's words of "Strip! Strip! Strip!" ringing in my ears from Ruthven, and it worked :-)   Supersonic speed Hoppers... hmmm.

cheers

Ah, so it was that kind of 'fishing' trip ? !  :X2 (whistles the theme from "Brokeback Mountain" )  :wink

Gotta have a day at Haddo before the cold sets in.

This has continued to be the story over the last few days :wink
