Title: Dalgetie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 02/09/12
Post by: The Aul Troot on 02/09/2012 at 13:34
The past week has seen reasonably settled conditions and predominantly overcast allowing for good fishing. The air and water temperature is beginning to fall although dry fly catches have remained good with the "Daddy" still the dominant surface lure. With the harvest remaining delayed the expected "corn lice" have not materialised but small black spiders, gnats and nymphs have been quite productive.
The evenings have now shortened and the fishing is now open til 8:00pm although we hope to maintain this time for the next few weeks.
Apart from a fresher wind and an accompanying drop in temperature, the next week looks settled enough to allow good sport.

The best catches this week fell to:

A Murray, Gardenstown, 11 fish up to 6lb, (Black Fritz), J Laing, Aberdeen, 10 fish, (Various Lures), K McInstray, Motherwell, 9 fish, (Nomad), C Field, Fraserburgh, 8 fish up to 7lb, (Daddy), D Stanford, Peterhead, 7 fish, (Buzzers), M Troup, Methlick, 7 fish, (Black Spider), B Milton, Buckie, 6 fish, (Various), T Gray, Motherwell, 6 fish, (Damsel Nymph).

Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open 7 days from 8:00am till 8:00pm. Boats (if required), rods and tackle is available for hire and visitors, juniors and novices are welcome. Booking is not necessary and further information can be obtained from Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
