Title: Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 02/06/12
Post by: The Aul Troot on 03/06/2012 at 17:22
This week has seen pleasant fishing conditions for the angler albeit on the chilly side but the low temperatures have driven the fish deeper and seen the return of intermediate and sinking lines with various lures returned quickly at depth. Occasionally when struck with a milder spell (not very often) the fish rose in the water levels and good fishing was enjoyed with the use of dry flies, buzzers and spiders together with a selection of small (16-18-20) size wet flies.

Although most anglers courted success on their visit, the following were among the top catches:

G Littler, Newmachar, 19 fish, (Black Dancer), N Thomson, Turriff, 15 fish, (Buzzers), R Ewing, Macduff, 12 fish, (Greenwell Spider), A Murray, Gardenstown, 11 fish, (Cat's Whisker/Orange Fritz),  D Duthie, Macduff, 10 fish, (Nomad/WSW), R Donald, Macduff, 10 fish, (Dry/Buzzers), A Murdoch, New Deer, 8 fish (Silver Lure).

Several "better" fish were landed with 12 anglers recording weights of 5lb with a top weight of 9lb.

This week is predicted to remain rather cold with an intermediate North/North East wind which will persist in driving the fish down. However, the wind is expected to back off in the evenings and we are now operating till 10:00pm in order to take advantage of any surface activity.

Delgaty Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days a week from 8:00am till 10:00pm. Boats, rods and tackle is available for hire and visitors are welcome. Booking is not necessary. For further information phone Bob on 07980 999 006. :z15
