Title: Best 15ft 10/11 blank
Post by: Matt Henderson on 16/04/2012 at 20:14
Hello folks.

I know of an old man who is retired and has a 13ft #8/9 rod but could do with a 14/15ft 10/11 rod to build as a project.now that they aren't working. I've done some research but was wondering what the forums opinion on what the best blank would be.

So far I've considered CTS, Thomas and Thomas , Sage, Meiser, and Batson.

Anybody else got any ideas to consider? Do any of the other major manufacturers offer their rods as blanks only? Dad has tried my partridge, anybody any idea who's blank it is?

Cheers
Matt

Harrison and Hardy are available as blanks.

Hardy Sirrus 15' #10, £306

Harrison 15' Traditional Spey 9/10 £214

Harrison actually have a good range of Salmon blanks now, from traditional to "Scandi" style. You need to call the factory though. 0151 709 6096 See if you can talk to Dr Steve Harrison. He is the boss and extremely knowledgable about rod design/salmon rods/custom blanks.

Also Bruce and Walker will do you some lovely modern blanks but you need to call them for prices.

And what about David Norwich?

I hadn't thought of David Norwich.

I wondered if anybody has got a sage double hander?
