Title: Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 04/11/11
Post by: The Aul Troot on 06/11/2011 at 11:57
Having enjoyed pleasantly unseasonable warmth during the week it was indeed a surprise to open on Saturday and Sunday with minus values on the thermometer. Visions of snow and ice now dominate our thinking as Winter appears on the horizon.

This week has been particularly productive for the angler and the surprising feature was the number of fish contacted on the surface to a variety of "dry fly" variations including Klinkhammer, Daddy and Spiders. Whilst other anglers have enjoyed their sport from deeper levels with various Buzzers, Bloodworm and Lures.

The best catches this week fell to;

Mike Ewen jnr, Turriff, 24 fish, (Pink Blob), Peter Cowie, Fraserburgh, 17 fish, (Spider), Ed Quirie, Turriff, 17 fish, (Diawa Bach, Blob),  Kris Wright, Newburgh, 17 fish, (Buzzer, Bloodworm), Karen Gillies, Huntly, 16 fish, (Buzzer, Bloodworm), C McLaren, Fraserburgh, 9 fish, (Klinkhammer, Spider), A Murray, Gardenstown, 8 fish, (Various Lures), Merv, Malvern, 11 fish, (Various Lures)

This week looks like being more settled but with much lower temperatures and bodes well for a good spell of fishing. It will be interesting to see how long the "dry fly" fishing survives these lower termperatures as the water cools down.

Delgatie Castle is a Troutmaster water and is open seven days from 8:00am 'til dusk. Beginners and visitors are welcome and a full range of tackle is available for hire including boats and rods.
