Some good hatches midweek but both fish and fisherman weren’t keen to try the dry fly, so it was back to popular winter tactics and up to lures to produce the big bags that were taken.
Whitehills angler R McKay boated 23 fish on nomad and blobs with a best fish of 4lb while J Chalmers boated 21 fish on a w.s.w with one at 12lb his best. B Reid landed 20 fish to 3lb on dancers and J Finnie had 18 including a couple of 5lb’ers on a mini cat. Young J Daniel had a great day landing 16 fish to 6lb on lures while Turriff angler T Novak banked 15 to 5.8lb on a bunny leech. St Fergus angler A Anderson landed two fish over 10lb in his bag of 14 taken mainly on a pink lure while C McKay boated one at 12lb in his bag of 12 taken on a bloodworm. S Daniel boated 9 and both M Daniel and S McLean bagged 8 all on lures.
