Title: Den of Ogil
Post by: Jim Eddie on 14/08/2011 at 10:43
Paul and I had a day out at Den of Ogil. It did not look to promising when I set off howling gale and horizontal rain. we got to forfar to pick up the boat key it had improved a lot by then. We also picked up Baz's motor and battery (Thanks Baz) which was agreat help. The weather turned out not to bad, just a bit breezy but just as well Paul had his drogue. Nothing much rising so it was sinking lines, the fishing was not prolific , but the quality of the fish we caught were superb, of the 4 fish to the boat they were 2lb, 2 at 2-1/2lb and one at 3lb.

Hi Baz,
First time there for me. Amazing quality of fish in that place although I must admit that pulling lures on a Hi-Di aint my favourite way of trout fishing . But hey ho it does seem to come up with the goods.

Thanks for the use of your electric by the way , it was a godsend .

All the Best,

Paul.

Majority are stocked Noel but there is a head of will trout in there!
Most fish are not taken and catch and release is pretty much the way so alot of good fish lurking around.

For easyness of customer service and spares availabilty that shakespear 44lbs thrust i have is prety hard to beat! I got my one from Neil in forfar for around £150 and your probably looking at another £100 for a good 110amp 12hr leisure battery.

Thanks Baz,
Definitely looking at one to extend my boat fishing. I was at Leven last monday , hard going but had a nice fish of about 3 pounds from the Kelson Strip once the gale dropped late on.

Thanks again.

Paul.

The pictures don't really do them justice, 1st one is 2-1/2lb just nothing in the picture to get its size in context. I need some tips from Iain in the photo department  :z4

       Nice trouts Jim and Paul.

          Henry

Cheers Henry, its a pity you can not tube it, but the banks are really steep so no places to get in and out safely.
