Title: Steptoes' handle turning lathe
Post by: Iain Goolager on 10/08/2011 at 23:52
Finaly found some free time & cobbled some bits and pieces together as the rod handle was never happening.

Brilliant Iain,

When do we see the bit where you gouge a huge chunk out of the handle?  :oops

PS I like the SBS video you done of the stripped quill nymph.  Davie Macphail eat your heart out!  :z14

very nice Irene.  Btw how did you make the bit at the far end with what looks like a free rotating chuck?  Would end al my handle turning woes.

Still on holiday but the wife is off out with the girls...

Matt, It's an old pneumatic pistol drill that was for the bin (nobody seems to replace vanes anymore?) so I ground her up and U bolted her onto the 'stock' piece of wood. The body has a taper toward the front so I packed her up with some PVC strips.

Maybe just luck but it seemed to rotate reasonably true when mated with the electric drill :z16

Was actually quite pleased with it
