Title: Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 21/05/11
Post by: The Aul Troot on 22/05/2011 at 16:03
Another week of reasonably settled weather although the air and water temperature has dropped a degree or two, encouraging the fish to take deeper, and again most success has been recorded on Buzzers although some fish have succumbed to a lure fished deep. The dry fly activity this week has been at a lower level with evenings resulting in less insect activity. The wild life activity increased with the arrival of ducklings but less pleasing is the increase in otter numbers. With the current thinking that foxes should be classed as vermin, it is more difficult to justify the protection of other species. I know I would rather have a fox on the bank than an otter in the water. A very contentious issue?

Best catches this week have fallen to;

K Wright               Newburgh          14 fish to 4.5lbs    Buzzer/Fritz
M Guest                Shropshire         11 fish to 5lbs       Klinkhammer/Bloodworm
A Murray               Gardenstown     11 fish                   Black Fritz
K Fraser                Greeness             9 fish                   Buzzer/Alexandria
M Ewen                 Turriff                   8 fish                   Buzzer/Yellow Dancer
I Watt                    Turriff                  8 fish                   Buzzer

The fishery is a Troutmaster water and open seven days a week from 8:00am til 9:00pm.

Boats, rods and tackle are available for hire and booking is not necessary.
