Post by: silverfox21 on 16/05/2011 at 23:02
Hi Folks,

Does anyone have much experiance fishing around Alford/ Haughton area.

Also, if anyone has any experiances with the campsite there it would be good to hear your opinions.

Cheers

I've fished the upper council water a few times and the lower council beat once.  Although it's normally at the back end of the season chasing silver tourists.  The lower bit is a bit more easily accesible than the upper stretch which is a little more overgrown.  You'll be able to walk to the lower stretch from the campsite which is right on the river.

Cheers

Thanks for your post.

looks a very good bit of water with some good streams.

Have you had much trout up there or is it mainly salmon fishing?

Cheers

There are some good trout, although I have mainly fished there for salmon.

How have salmon catches been on Alford water of recent? Has backend fishing been quite good over recent years?
