Title: Delgatie Castle Trout Fishery report w/e 23/04/11
Post by: The Aul Troot on 24/04/2011 at 17:53
A week of settled weather and unseasonably warm on some days. The sunshine has been very acceptable to holidau makers and for the Easter break but has made the fish behaviour very erratic, with anglers moving constantly between dry flies and small wets on floating lines to a variety of nymphs and lures on intermediate or sinking lines. Most anglers managed to catch some fish but the best returns were:

P Gray         Turriff             21 fish     dry and wet flies
S MacLean   Fraserburgh    20 fish     various lures
R Donald      Macduff          15 fish     dry/buzzers
M Ewen jnr  Turriff             13 fish     dry/lures
M James      Lancaster        12 fish     dry fly
S Anderson  Peterhead         9 fish     lures

The "dry fly rises" have been erratic but this week will hopefully see an increase in the fish activity on the surface. The opening hours are now extended and are 8:00am to 8:30pm. Fishing from the bank has been quite productive but boats are available for hire along with all other tackle. Bookings are not necessary.
