O.K, we have sussed out a venue.....

We need to sort out a date, get some numbers together and get it booked up. Will either go for a football pitch or the indoor athletics area depending upon what is available. JohnR or Iain Cameron are nominated to go suss out pros & cons of each, Iain is associated with the centre and JohnR always seems to have sufficient times within working hours :z4
How about Saturday 29th or Sunday 30th Jan for three or four hours?

Mike last I heard John had a new job down the road , howvevr he was coming back at week-ends until he sold his house.

Evening / Morning fellas
I am still travelling back up the road at weekends but my new job sees me down the road this weekend providing advice on agricultural issues as a result of the recent inclement weather.
I am back up on Thursday night next week so will drop past on Friday on my 'lunch break' and have a look unless Iain is there sooner. I will also probably pop out to the shop and see you at some point Ben.
If I am about that weekend I will definitely be up for it.

I am not going to make this guys as I am leaving here on the 21st and have not got a house down the road yet and am going to be staying with the folks so can't really leave the Mrs and my dogs down there on their own and will probably be viewing houses.
If circumstances change then I will definitely come up for it.

As I said to Kev, if anybody finds they can come along at the last minute, feel welcome to join in :wink
We have the track area booked from 3pm to 6pm, so just turn up at the main reception and they'll point you in the right direction.
Cost is about £180, so if everybody could make sure they have change with them to cover anything from £10 to £20 per head please, depending on what the division per head ends up being on the day.
Rods in tubes, or in sections while going through reception obviously, wear soft shoes like trainers etc ( no tackity boots :z7 ) and no flies or hooks in your tackle bags please ...... all logical safety :wink
If we have a good turnout of folk on the day and the time flies, we might possibly ask if we can continue for an extra hour through to 7pm? We can just see how things go on the day and what everybody fancies doing :wink

Funnily enough I was thinking about the same thing ! A plan that is , not the lack of one !
I would like to have a practise and pick up some hints and tips under Ben's watchful eye at various presentation casts eg. big and wee wiggle casts,pile ,parachute, steeple, aerial mending to the left and right, Belgian casts, change of direction casts ( incl. snake rolls ), jump roll maybe .That should keep Ben and everyone busy !!
Just thought ,maybe this has been done before ?

Well that was a good way to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon. Thanks to Will,Magnus,Ben for the demos nice to meet up with some old faces and some new. Few tips to take on board. :z18

I had a great day, many thanks to Ben, Will and Magnus for their assistance in identifying my faults (oh so many to cure) and for showing me / us all just how it should be done.
I will make sure that I spend a few hours each week working on my casting. Must try to sort out a tripod and get the video on my camera set up to check on progress.
It makes you take stock of things and focus on the areas that need work, the encouragement was excellent and I have a clear(ish) plan of action to tackle each area stage by stage. It makes you think about all aspects of casting so much more and I will probably spend many hours with Peter oven the next few months working together on similar things.
Thanks again for giving up you weekend to help us out, very much appreciated, a great way to spend a winter day.
Looking forward the the next one, what a cracking venue.
Mike, the quality of your CDC was just great, I will place an order later today.

What a cracking place, first time I've been there.
Turned up late and spent all my time yapping. Managed to set up my rod but didn't cast it once - managed three casts of Stuarts 2wt which was pleasant.
Very pleased to see you all after what's been a seemingly long absence.
A couple of old sweats couldn't be there but the turnout was still very good.
Well done organisers and lecturers.
