Outcasts Gathering Sunday November 7th
Hi folks
I think it best to start a new thread for this, just in case we cause any confusion in Ben's Sexyloops thread :wink
So, we are thinking of holding an Outcasts Gathering on Sunday November 7th, who would like to come along?
Cheers
Mike
-
It's in the diary Mike, I'm up for it.
Ben
-
I will come and spectate if thats ok.
-
Mike
I;ll try and be there. John what do you mean spectate , its just a bit of fun , Ben apart :wink most of us are just average castershoping to learn and pick up some good habits. No one has more bad ones than me :z4
:z18
Jim
-
I don't know about that Jim. Ask Ben what I'm like with the double hander. I would be as well with a baseball bat! :)
-
No-one needs to practice more than me. I'll be there :z16

No Mike you're not going to get a visit from Ambulancechasers4U. :z16
A reccurance of my heart trouble. They don't think it'll involve major surgery but I'm Horses de Combat till I get the results of the tests.
Ah well time for fly tying at least.
-
That doesn't sound like much fun :z6 take it easy and look after yourself Peter :z16
Cheers
Mike
-
Hope you recover soon Peter. I am sure you will be able to relax in front of the vice.
Best wishes
John :z16

Guys.......
Been thinking about this. The weather may be pretty grim, we have some members that would like to attend who are ill or injured so How does everyone feel about having the gathering at Haddo. There is just about enough space to cast and Mike has offered to let us stalk some fish from the bank, there is a warm hut with a stove and we can drink Mikes coffee and smoke Magnums fags.
Whats are your thoughts?
Cheers
Ben
-
I have never been to an outcasts day but if there is stalking fish from the bank at Haddo involved then count me in :z16
-
Sounds like a plan :z16
Cheers
Mike
-
Absolutely brilliant plan. Will the 2wt line be ready for then Mike?

Should be John, I hope so
-
Sounds like a good idea to me. :z16
As we will have water rather than grass I will be able to work on my single handed roll casting which seems to have fallen apart. If the weather is bad then a warm hut will be great.
I pulled a muscle in my lower back yesterday and bending is painful, but I expect I will have recovered in a couple of weeks time.
Irvine
-
Will try and make this
Cheers
-
Aye count me in :z16
:z18
Jim

So ..... Irvine has mentioned single handed roll casting, has anybody else got anything in particular that they would like to get some practice with?
The roll casting might come in handy when fishing from the bank at Haddo
Cheers
Mike

I would love to come but I've arranged a pass to go to a Doug Scott presentation in the evening that day! http://www.dougscottmountaineering.co.uk/ (http://www.dougscottmountaineering.co.uk/)

I would like some help with the double haul. I can get it working at the side but not overhead :z6
-
I'm on yet another work course down in Hull the week before; but handily have just been advised we finish at lunchtime on Friday :z16 Just as well I didn't book my hotel until this morning :roll
So, in a slight change in my original plan, I'll be driving straight back to Inverness on Friday and will come through for the day on Sunday, it'll be nice to see some of the 'crew' and (selfishly) will give me a chance to put my 'new' toy (an Alfa ) through its paces properly on the run to Haddo
It's possible that 'she who must be obeyed' will be coming too - if only to spectate and get cold :shock
I'll give her my camera so she can take some pics on the day.
If it's pissing with rain (possible) then she can drink Mikes tea and keep the stove going :z17
H :z3
-
Good shit H.
If anyone wants me to bring any toys in particular then let me know.
Same goes for any demos anyone would like to see, let me know if there are any techniques you would like covered and I'll knock something up.
Cheers

Ill only come if Mike lets me try for trout using a 14.5 metre pole with 2 buzzers under a "site bob" :)
I actually have a brand new Diamondback that I have still not cast with...could bring that i guess.
-
Looks like the weather will be excellent for it! Hope you have a good day.
-
I'm bringing some soup, in the process of making it at the moment. It's not too spicy....... so Magnum should be able to eat it without passing too much wind :wink
She who must be obeyed hasn't made her mind up if she's tagging along yet :roll

Disappointed that Albert couldn't make it
Yeah me too. :roll
He was very interested in a casting scene - he's been bemoaning the fact that theres not one like the glasgow casting club on fred carrie's site.
Pity
-
Aye
Thanks again to Mike , Ben , Hamish, good to see some old faces and meet some hew ones.
Alberts sends his apologies, but its hard to attend when you are a figment of somones imagination :z4 :z4 :z4

Get Mike to organise it :wink
Sandy :z4 :z4
really missing being able to pop out to these things things :cry :cry :cry
Not quite so easy from here, and organising my own one is a a bit sad when i'd be the only one there.
Even though i do it once a week at least :roll The monkeys do make me feel a little bit like at home, but the humidity takes too much out of you when you are casting!!.... Seriously.... :z10
-
but the humidity takes too much out of you when you are casting!!.... Seriously.... :z10
And I would think it would shorten the cast as well thanks to the "thickness" of the air slowing the loop down.
100% humidity is no fun at all...
